For most yards with some tree canopy, Floratam St. Augustine is the right default — it tolerates more shade than any other warm-season grass sold here. Full-sun yards that get heavy foot traffic do well with Zoysia. Large open lots with inconsistent irrigation are usually better with Bahia, which is the most drought-tolerant option.
