St Pete Sod & Mulch
Sod installation and mulch delivery — laid, leveled and cleaned up in a day, not a season.
Dead patches, bare dirt, weed-choked beds. We install full-yard sod, deliver and spread bulk mulch, and prep and level beds across St. Petersburg with materials cut fresh for our climate, not trucked in from a farm three states away.
We'll call you within one business day. If it's urgent — a delivery deadline, an install before an event — call (727) 555-0100 and we'll move you up.

What we do
Sod & mulch services in St. Petersburg, FL
A single dead patch or a full acre of bare dirt — same crew, same standards. Every install includes an irrigation check so we're not laying fresh sod over a system that can't keep it alive.
Sod and mulch are the only things we do. Not tree trimming, not pressure washing, not general lawn maintenance that this work gets squeezed in around. That focus is why we can tell you within about ninety seconds of walking your yard whether Floratam will hold up under your oak canopy, or whether you're better off with Bahia and a Saturday afternoon back. Across Pinellas County we've installed sod and mulch on more than five hundred properties — historic bungalow lots in St. Petersburg's Old Northeast, waterfront yards on Snell Isle and Tierra Verde where salt and irrigation restrictions change the calculus, and the larger open lots out in Pinellas Park and Seminole. Different lots, different soil, different answers, and a flat written price for all of them before any work starts.

The difference
Dead and patchy, or thick and green
Drag the handle. A struggling lawn goes brown, thins out, and lets weeds take over — which is exactly when the neighbors start noticing.
What we check on every job
A sod install that fails early almost always fails for one of four reasons. We check all four before quoting, so the number you get is the number you pay.
- 01Irrigation coverageDry spots and overlapping heads kill new sod in its first two weeks. We test the system before we lay a single roll.
- 02Grading & drainageLow spots pond water and rot roots. We rake and level before sod goes down, not after.
- 03Sun exposureWrong variety for the light you actually have thins out within a season. We match sod to your canopy, not the cheapest pallet.
- 04Soil contactGaps under the sod dry out roots before they can knit in. We hand-tamp every seam and roll the full yard.

How your install actually goes
Four steps, in order. You'll know what's happening at each one.
Free on-site estimate
We come out, measure square footage, check soil and irrigation coverage, and hand you a written flat price with a sod or mulch recommendation — not a range guessed over the phone.
Usually within 24–48 hoursPrep & grading
We kill existing weeds, rake out debris, and grade the yard level so water drains away from the house instead of pooling under new sod.
Old grass and debris hauled offInstall & roll
Fresh-cut sod laid tight seam to seam, hand-tamped for soil contact, then rolled to remove air pockets so roots knit in fast.
Most yards finish same dayWalkthrough & watering plan
We walk the whole yard with you, hand over a simple watering schedule for the first three weeks, and haul off every scrap of old sod and debris.

The crew in your yard
Sod and mulch are all we do — not a lawn-care side service. You'll meet the same faces on the estimate and on install day.
Walks every estimate personally and writes the price you’ll pay. Replace this with a real two-line bio — how long in St. Pete, how long doing sod and mulch.
Runs the full-yard installs and the tricky grading jobs. Swap in a real name and one detail that makes them a person, not a stock photo.
Handles bed prep, mulch spreading and edging. One sentence on what they’re known for beats a paragraph of adjectives.
A St. Pete crew, not a call center
You talk to the person who’ll be in your yard. We know which neighborhoods have sandy fill that drains too fast and which have clay pockets that hold water.
Sod cut fresh, not warehoused
We order from local sod farms and schedule installs around harvest, not the other way around. Sod sitting on a pallet for days loses root vigor before it ever touches your dirt.
Irrigation checked, every time
New sod fails from underwatering more than any other cause. We run your zones during the estimate and flag dry spots before you pay for sod that won’t take.
One pallet is a real job to us
Plenty of companies won’t come out for a single pallet or a small mulch top-off. We will, and we won’t pad the price to make the trip worth it.
Soil problems named up front
If your soil needs amending before sod will hold, we say so during the estimate, not after we’ve collected for grass that’ll die by August.
Clean site, every time
Old sod, weeds and debris leave with us. Driveways and walkways get swept before we pull out.

What St. Petersburg customers say
Placeholder reviews — replace with real Google reviews before launch.
Our front yard had been half-dead for two summers. These guys quoted it on a Tuesday, laid the whole yard Thursday, and it looked like a golf course by the weekend. Price was exactly what was on the estimate.
Had four beds that were nothing but weeds. They pulled everything, edged it clean, and mulched with pine bark instead of the cheap stuff I asked for — explained why and it was worth the extra. Looks great two years later.
Big lot, sandy soil, previous company quoted us double. These guys explained why Bahia made more sense than St. Augustine for our situation and it has held up through two dry seasons with barely any watering.

St. Petersburg sod & mulch FAQs
Small yards under 2,000 square feet typically run $900 to $1,700. Average yards between 2,000 and 5,000 square feet run $1,700 to $3,800, and large lots up to 10,000 square feet run $3,800 to $7,500. The spread comes down to sod variety, how much grading and weed removal is needed, and equipment access. We quote a flat written price on site so the number does not move.
A standard residential yard is usually a one-day job. Large lots over half an acre or anything needing significant grading typically run two days. We give you a realistic window at the estimate rather than promising same-day on everything.
Yes. Sod delivery runs $140 to $220 per pallet depending on variety, and mulch delivery runs $45 to $65 per cubic yard, both plus a flat delivery fee. Pallets are cut fresh to order and delivered within 24 hours in most cases so the sod is still viable when it lands in your driveway.
For most yards with some tree canopy, Floratam St. Augustine is the right default — it tolerates more shade than any other warm-season grass sold here. Full-sun yards that get heavy foot traffic do well with Zoysia. Large open lots with inconsistent irrigation are usually better with Bahia, which is the most drought-tolerant option.
Yes, on every job. We run every zone during the estimate and map dry spots and overlapping coverage, because underwatering is the single biggest reason new sod fails in its first two weeks. If your system needs adjustment, we tell you before you pay for sod that will not take.
Plan on once a year for most organic mulches in the St. Petersburg climate. Heat, humidity and heavy summer rain break mulch down faster here than almost anywhere else in the country, and it also fades noticeably within six to eight months even before it fully decomposes.
Both, plus cypress and rubber mulch. Pine bark is the most popular for general beds, pine straw is common under azaleas and other acid-loving shrubs, and rubber mulch is a one-time cost for playground areas or beds where you do not want to re-mulch annually.
It can, and underwatering is the most common cause we see. New sod needs light, frequent watering for the first two to three weeks while roots establish, then a gradual taper to a normal schedule. We hand you a simple written watering plan on install day and it is the single biggest factor in whether your sod takes.
Only for the estimate and the final walkthrough. Once the price is approved, most customers hand off yard access and go about their day. We text you when we arrive, when we finish, and if anything unexpected turns up in the soil or grading.
Yes. Post-construction lots and storm-damaged yards are a regular part of our work. We grade out debris and compacted soil, amend where needed, and install sod suited to the new light and drainage conditions rather than just replacing what was there before.
